SUMMARY:Faslane Christian Peace Witness Vigil
DESCRIPTION:Join Justice & Peace Scotland on Saturday 1 August\, 11:00am to 12.30pm\, at Faslane Naval Base for our annual Christian Peace Witness Vigil as we pray and advocate for a world without nuclear weapons. \nOrganised by J&PS\, the gathering – this year at the North Gate – will be a time of prayer\, reflection\, readings\, and song led by senior Church leaders from across Scotland. Members of the Iona Community and the Quakers will also join us to call for nuclear disarmament and peace. \nAs Christians\, we are called to be peacemakers and to uphold the dignity of every human life. \nNuclear weapons are fundamentally incompatible with this call as their existence threatens indiscriminate destruction and a future built on fear and power-wielding rather than on fraternity amongst nations. \nA free bus service will be provided for the day\, with pick-ups in Edinburgh and Glasgow. For details and to reserve places\, please email: office@justiceandpeacescotland.org.uk.

SUMMARY:National Youth Pilgrimage - Pluscarden Abbey
DESCRIPTION:Set among the quiet Moray countryside near Elgin\, Pluscarden Abbey stands as one of Scotland’s most peaceful and spiritually significant monastic homes. \nOn Saturday 26 September 2026\, the Abbey will welcome young adults (18–35) for the National Youth Pilgrimage\, organised by the Scottish Catholic Youth Service. It’s a rare opportunity to step into the rhythm of monastic life in a place where silence\, prayer\, and tradition have shaped centuries of Catholic heritage in Scotland. \nThis year’s theme focuses on religious and monastic life\, with a programme designed to offer both reflection and encounter: guided tours of the Abbey\, a Q&A with the monks who call it home\, talks on vocations and consecrated life\, and a Vigil Mass celebrated with Archbishop Cushley. \nMore than just a destination\, Pluscarden Abbey is a place of stillness and spiritual depth—where the pace of modern life gives way to prayer\, community\, and contemplation. \nThe Archdiocese is organising travel from Edinburgh to the monastery\, and back again. Contact youth.office@staned.org.uk.
