Saturday, 8 December, is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception when the Church Universal celebrates that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was given a special grace by God to be sinless at the instant of her conception. This concept - known as the Immaculate Conception of Mary - was defined as a teaching of the Church by Pope Pius IX in 1854. There will be Holy Mass tomorrow at St Mary’s Metropolitan Cathedral in Edinburgh at 9am in Polish and 10am in English, as well as in nearly all other parishes across the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh.
