The Lectionary used at Mass and for the Sacraments is changing this Advent.
This event will explain why it is being changed and what you need to know, while reflecting together on God's Word in Holy Scripture.
Celebrating the Gift will share clear, simple explanations from expert speakers and practical tips on enhancing your knowledge and love of Scripture and the Liturgy.
The day will include
- A range of expert speakers and Q&A sessions.
- Explaining the new Lectionary in clear, jargon-free language.
- Free lunch.

Celebrating the Gift: Preparing for the new translation of the Lectionary | Sacred Scripture Reflection Day
Schedule
10:00am: Teas and coffees.
10:30am: SESSION 1: What makes a good translation? (Plus Q&A)
11:30am: SESSION 2: Introducing the new Lectionary. (Plus Q&A)
12:30pm: Holy Mass in St Margaret's Chapel (onsite).
1:00pm: Lunch.
2:00pm: SESSION 3: What will the New Translation look like in practice? (Plus Q&A)
3:00pm: SESSION 4: What will this mean for ministers of The Word? (Plus Q&A)
Celebrating the Gift takes place on Saturday 5 October from 10:00am to 4:00pm at The Gillis Centre, 100 Strathearn Road, Edinburgh, EH9 1BB. It is a free event, open to all. Entry by registration here. Free parking onsite. Free lunch includes small sandwiches and fruit. If you have food allergies/intolerances please being a packed lunch.
