Chief Operating Officer

The Chief Operating Officer reports to the Trustees of the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh and supports them in their work of running the Archdiocese, which is a registered charity in Scots law.

Under the management of the Moderator of the Curia, the Chief Operating Officer manages all the employees of the Curia, including: Finance; Communications; Property; Mount Vernon Cemetery; Safeguarding; Chancery; Sponsor Licences; and Administration for the Archbishop and the Curia.

The Chief Operating Officer of the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh is Carol Flockhart, who was appointed to the post in July 2024. Before joining the Archdiocese, Carol was the Managing Partner of CT: Accountants and Advisers (Formerly Chiene + Tait), a large independent practice head quartered in Edinburgh. She is also a Non-Executive Director/Governor (Vice Chair) of the charity St Columba’s Hospice Care.
