Parishes across the Archdiocese run groups for adults who want to explore the Catholic faith and learn more about becoming a Catholic.
You don’t need to have made a decision before getting in touch. It is an opportunity to ask questions, learn about the Catholic faith, meet other people on the same journey and discern whether God may be calling you to become part of the Catholic Church.
This process is traditionally known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). It usually involves regular meetings exploring the Catholic faith, prayer and Scripture, and, for those who decide to continue, preparation to be received into the Church.
You’ll find details of RCIA groups currently running across the Archdiocese below. If there isn’t one close to you, contact your local parish, which will be happy to advise you.

RCIA sessions are on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm at 28 Lauriston Street, Edinburgh EH3 9DJ, with an Exploring Catholicism Zoom course running on alternate Wednesdays at 7:00pm.
