Discussing the Gospel
Today is the seventeenth Sunday in ordinary time. In the Gospel today (Matthew 13:44-52), Jesus, again tells people parables to explain what the Kingdom of Heaven is like. Jesus says that the Kingdom of Heaven is like treasure.
Today ask the children to draw a picture of a treasure chest, and help them cut out some coloured card in jewel shapes. Then help them to write on each jewel a good deed that they can do that is real treasure building God’s kingdom and leading us to Heaven.
