Pilgrimage for Life at Carfin Grotto

Join Bishop John Keenan at Scotland’s annual Pilgrimage for Life at Carfin Grotto. The day celebrates the dignity of every human life through prayer, witness and thanksgiving.

Faslane Christian Peace Witness Vigil

Justice & Peace Scotland invites you to the annual Christian Peace Witness Vigil at Faslane Naval Base. Join Christians from across Scotland in praying and witnessing for peace and nuclear disarmament.

Gaudí: God’s Architect
7–15 August
The acclaimed Fringe production returns for 2026, telling the remarkable story of Antoni Gaudí, the visionary Catholic architect behind Barcelona’s Sagrada Família. The play explores faith, sacrifice and artistic genius.

Hibernian Memorial Mass & Plaque Unveiling
Saturday 8 August
A special Mass at 12:30pm at St Patrick’s Church, Cowgate, Edinburgh, will be offered for the living and dead of Hibernian FC—staff, players, supporters and their families. At 1:30pm, Hibs legend Pat Stanton will unveil an historic supporters’ plaque.

Music for the Homeless Jesus
Monday 17 August | 7:30pm
The Schola Cantorum presents an inspiring evening of sacred music inspired by Timothy Schmalz’s Homeless Jesus sculpture. Part of the Edinburgh Festival of the Sacred Arts, the programme reflects on homelessness, mercy, compassion and hope, including a live performance of Gavin Bryars’ Jesus’ Blood Never Failed Me Yet.

Timothy Schmalz at St Mary’s Cathedral
Tuesday 18 August | 11:00am
Meet internationally acclaimed Canadian sculptor Timothy Schmalz, creator of the Homeless Jesus sculpture. Hear him speak about the inspiration behind his work and the relationship between faith, art and social justice.

A Summer in Paris – Festival Organ Recital
Friday 21 August | 7:30pm
Cathedral Organist Tom Wilkinson performs a programme of beautiful French organ music inspired by Paris, featuring works by Franck, Guilmant, Messiaen, Mulet, Boëllmann and others. Proceeds support the Cathedral Roof Appeal.

Walking the Way
Begins Saturday 22 August
Walk part of Scotland’s ancient pilgrim route to St Andrews with fellow Catholics from across Scotland. Whether you join for a day or the full pilgrimage, Walking the Way offers prayer, fellowship and reflection on the journey.

National Pilgrimage to St Ninian’s Cave, Whithorn
Sunday 30 August | 4:00pm
Join pilgrims from across Scotland for the annual National Pilgrimage to St Ninian’s Cave, one of the country’s oldest Christian pilgrimage sites. Mass will be celebrated on the shore at Port Castle Bay, with provision also made for those unable to make the walk.
