The Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh is a registered charity with charity number SC008540. Our four registered aims are:
- The advancement of the Catholic religion;
- The prevention or relief of poverty;
- The advancement of education;
- The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage.
The fulfilment of these charitable aims leads our priests, religious and lay people to undertake a range of apostolic works most often aimed at serving those in greatest need. We help provide: 1) A network of 109 parishes across 10 local authority areas. 2) A network of 70 Catholic primary schools and 10 Catholic high schools 3) Chaplains to 39 hospitals and four hospices 4) Chaplains to three prisons and one young offender institution 5) Chaplains to six universities.
