A Catholic volunteer group is preparing to help people in need in the Archdiocese and across the country this Easter.

The Companions of the Order of Malta are building on their successful Christmas Parcels initiative in which parcels were delivered across the country, including to locations along The Borders within the Archdiocese at Duns (the Community Larder), Galashiels and Hawick.

The organisation works across Britain with the homeless and the poor, runs soup kitchens, volunteers in the Order’s residential care homes, visits the elderly and housebound, takes the disabled on pilgrimage to religious shrines and fundraise for various projects.

The group is an auxiliary organisation of the Sovereign Order of Malta, a global Catholic religious lay order and charity, whose work is dedicated to helping the poor and the sick, whoever they are and wherever they come from - work the Order of Malta has carried out for centuries.
