Archbishop prays with Hungarian President

Archbishop Cushley recently welcomed the President of Hungary Dr Tamás Sulyok and his wife Zsuzsanna Nagy to St Margaret’s Memorial Church in Dunfermline.

They were on pilgrimage in Scotland and prayed with the Archbishop at the relic of the Saint Margaret (below), before visiting her tomb at Dunfermline Abbey.

The parish posted on Facebook: “St Margaret’s Relic was the highlight of the visit, with Archbishop Cushley leading prayers in the Lady Chapel.

“During his visit, the President emphasised the strong, over one thousand year history between Hungary and Scotland through the life and legacy of St Margaret.

“The President kindly presented a beautiful gift to the Parish to mark his visit which Archbishop Cushley accepted on our behalf.”

The President said: “I encourage everyone to make a pilgrimage to this Hungarian historical monument when visiting Scotland.”
