Mass for World Day of Grandparents & the Elderly: This day is an opportunity to honour the presence of older people in our families, parishes, and communities. Bishop John Keenan will celebrate Mass at Carfin Grotto at 3:00pm on Sunday 26 July.

Brecbannoch Pilgrimage 2026: A pilgrimage to pray for the renewal of the Faith in Scotland, from 31 July to 3 August, with a walk across the Isle of Mull, returning the relics of St Columba to Iona. Discounts are available for students and under-22s, and under-5s go free. Visit brecbannoch.co.uk

Pilgrimage for Life: Scotland’s annual Pilgrimage for Life takes place at Carfin Grotto on Saturday 1 August. Led by Bishop John Keenan, the pilgrimage will include Holy Mass at midday, 2:00pm Eucharistic Adoration, 2:15pm Stations of the Cross, 2:45pm Divine Mercy Chaplet, 3:30pm Holy Rosary.

Faslane Christian Peace Witness Vigil: Join Justice & Peace Scotland at Faslane Naval Base on Saturday 1 August, 11:00am to 12:30pmfor the annual Christian Peace Witness Vigil to pray and advocate for a world without nuclear weapons. A free bus service will depart from Waterloo Place outside Waverley Station, Edinburgh, at 8:15am. Reserve your space by emailing office@justiceandpeacescotland.org.uk.

Festival Mass: Celebrated by Archbishop Leo Cushley, the Mass welcomes civic leaders, members of the Consular Corps, visitors and parishioners from across the Archdiocese in a joyful celebration of faith, community and the cultural life of the city if Edinburgh. St Mary’s Cathedral, Sunday 16 August at midday. 

Music for the Homeless Jesus: On Monday 17 August with the Schola Cantorum choir of St Mary’s Cathedral. This concert is inspired by Timothy Schmlaz’s ‘Homeless Jesus’ sculpture, located outside St Mary’s Catholic Cathedral. Part of Edinburgh Festival of the Sacred Arts, the evening will contemplate homelessness and marginalisation through a programme of choral music that speaks of mercy, compassion, and hope. Hibernian 150th anniversary: Events at St Patrick’s Church, The Cowgate, Edinburgh: Saturday 8 August, 12.30pm Mass offered for the living and dead of Hibs (staff, players, supporters and family). 1:30pm – unveiling of an historic supporters’ plaque by Hibs legend Pat Stanton. Saturday 22 August 10:30am Mass followed by 11:00am presentation of posthumous scroll for Canon Hannan from the Mayor of Limerick, thereafter a Hibs Heritage Tour of the City, ending at the Grange Cemetery. Come & See: On Saturday 8 August 2026, 11:30am-2:30pm, single Catholic young women aged 18-35 are invited to spend a few hours at the convent at St Andrew’s Church, Belford Road, Edinburgh, discovering more about the vocation of a Religious Sister of Mercy. National Pilgrimage to Whithorn: The Annual National Pilgrimage to Whithorn, where St Ninian began his ministry in bringing Catholicism to Scotland, is on Sunday 30 August. Mass will be celebrated on the beach at 4:00pm by Bishop Frank Dougan (Galloway Diocese). For those unable to walk to the beach, there will be Mass at 4:45pm in St Martin & St Ninian’s Church, Whithorn, by Bishop Joseph Toal (Motherwell Diocese).

National Pilgrimage to Carfin Grotto: Join the Bishops of Scotland at the National Marian Shrine for Holy Mass at 3:00pm on Sunday 6 September, Mass at 3:00pm. 

National Youth Pilgrimage: The National Youth Pilgrimage (for ages 18–35) will take place on Saturday 26 September 2026 at Pluscarden Abbey. This year’s pilgrimage will focus on religious and monastic life and will include a tour of the Abbey, a Q&A with the monks, talks on vocation, and a Vigil Mass with Archbishop Cushley. Altar Servers Day: The Annual Day for Altar Servers takes place on Saturday 5 September from 10:30am to 3:00pm at The Gillis Centre in Edinburgh. Please speak to the priest for details.

Season of Creation Conference: A day of inspiration, reflection and practical action to celebrate the Season of Creation. Saturday 5 September 2026, 10:00am – 3:00pm, Eyre Hall, Clyde Street, Glasgow, G1 4JY. The keynote speaker is Lorna Gold, Executive Director of the Laudato Si’ Movement. Venerable Margaret Sinclair Pilgrimage: This year’s pilgrimage takes place on Sunday 20 September at St Patrick’s Church in The Cowgate, Edinburgh. It’s the annual opportunity to pray for the Beatification of the Venerable Margaret Sinclair, entombed in the Sacred Heart chapel at St Patrick’s. Schedule: 12:30pm – Sale of candles & goods, refreshments; 1:30pm – Holy Hour (exposition and benediction); 3:00pm – Reflection from Canon Jock Dalrymple; 4:30pm – Mass celebrated by Archbishop Cushley (Homilist: Fr Michael John Galbraith).

World Youth Day 2027: World Youth Day takes place in Seoul, South Korea, from 1-9 August 2027. Young adults are invited to travel with the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh: Departure 1 August and return on 9 August 2027. For more information email youth.office@staned.org.uk
