A special gala concert will be held at Our Lady and St Ninian’s, Bannockburn, in aid of Ukrainian Refugee Support in Hungary.

The Glasgow Phoenix Choir will perform choral classics, Scots songs, and show tunes at the church on Sunday 12 June at 2:30pm.

The event, organised by parish priest Fr Kevin Murray, is sponsored by the Sovereign Order of St John of Jerusalem Knights Hospitaller, a Christian organisation known for helping the sick and the poor.

Barbara McCormick, church secretary, said: "We're trying to do our bit to help those in Ukraine and thought it would be good to entertain people at the same time."

The Glasgow Phoenix Choir performs over 20 concerts per year and each involves a range of music from choral standards to new music and solo performances by choir members.

This season the choir celebrates its platinum jubilee as well as 120 years since its foundation.
